Yes—you read that right. We live on 10 acres of fertile, abundant land. But when it came time to plant my herbs, I chose containers.
It might sound counterintuitive, but building a container garden has been one of the most aligned decisions I’ve made on the farm. Not because I couldn’t plant directly in the soil—but because I wanted to honor where I am, not where I think I should be.
Creating Within the Boundaries of Now
There’s something powerful about creating within a defined space. Containers gave me the freedom to start small—with care, with clarity, with creativity. I didn’t need a massive garden layout or a perfect plan. I needed a place to begin.
And some seasons in life are exactly like that. You have the resources, the space, even the vision—but your energy is asking you to start compact. To simplify. To ground.
The Beauty of Contained Creation
Here’s what I love about my container garden:
- It’s mobile. I can move things around based on sunlight and season.
- It’s manageable. I can tend to it daily without overwhelm.
- It’s intentional. Each plant is there on purpose, not just because I had space.
Container gardens are a lesson in discernment. They ask you: What do you actually have the capacity to care for right now?
Big Land, Small Start
Just because you can go big doesn’t mean you should. In this season, I’m honoring alignment over scale. Ease over expectation. I’ll expand the garden when the energy is there—but for now, this container space is a sanctuary. It’s enough.
It’s a reminder that growth doesn’t require grandeur. It just requires presence.
An Invitation to Begin Where You Are
If you’ve been holding off on planting—literally or metaphorically—because you’re waiting for the “perfect” conditions, consider this your nudge.
Start with a container. Start with one herb. One vision. One aligned step.
The land will meet you there. It always does.
